"A life on the ocean has influenced my art, from the grace of whales and sailing ships to a deep concern for our planet, as expressed in my work.”
Artist Werner Holzbaur thoroughly enjoys the creative process, particularly with wood. Through the years, he discovered his talent for transforming hardwoods into magnificent sculpture. Werner has captured the beauty of sailboats and sea life and has achieved a level of craftsmanship rare to his profession.
Each sculpture is created from renewable resources such as Tulip Poplar, Amburana, Maple, Cherry or Walnut. The grain of the wood is evaluated for its potential contribution to the sculpture in order to maximize its appearance.
